Patented and Proven
NuoDB, the leader in scale-out SQL database technology, was first envisioned by industry-renowned database architect and innovator Jim Starkey in 2008. In 2010 he was joined by enterprise software executive Barry Morris to launch a company that has re-defined relational database technology to tackle the multiple challenges associated with cloud computing and the rise of global application deployments.
Fundamental to our founders’ vision was the idea of developing a database system that builds on the power of SQL to move relational technology beyond the traditional monolithic databases designed 30 years ago. Today, that vision is actively working for top global enterprises, independent software vendors, and over 20,000 users.
Since its founding several years ago, NuoDB received its first patent in a record 15 months with a U.S. Patent & Trademark Office finding of “no prior art.” Five additional patents are currently pending.
However at NuoDB, innovation is not an end in itself, but a means to a goal. The goal is to build a database system that scales elastically by simply adding more machines; a database that can be deployed across geographically distributed cloud and datacenter resources; a database system that provides redundancy and continuous availability; a database that can be deployed as a service and managed automatically.
Distributed technology is the fundamental building block for every layer of 21st century enterprise infrastructure. NuoDB's durable distributed caching architecture changes the game, enabling the elastic cloud at the database layer, and delivering breakthroughs in service levels and costs.
